Music Technology Working Session

Capital’s Music Technology program has two degree options: Bachelor of Music in Music Technology or the Bachelor of Arts in Professional Studies: Music Technology. Both degrees offer an identical, in-depth study of music technology. The Bachelor of Music track is designed for students who have been traditionally taught in music and want to continue their studies in music, combined with tech classes. The Professional Studies track is designed for self-taught musicians and traditionally trained musicians who prefer to complete a non-music minor to round out their studies.

Record. Collaborate. Create. Music and Tech Meet Here.

Experiential Learning

The Capital Music Technology program is hands-on with a focus on practice and placement. Students are required to complete a seven-week internship, and that’s where careers really start to take shape. These internship opportunities exist internationally – and closer to home, with more than 100 venues in 18 states. Our students have been welcomed at Clear Channel, PromoWest Productions, the Chicago Recording Company, and Dell Computers just to name a few. During their final semester, students also attend the International NAMM Expo in California to network with music tech industry leaders.

For those seeking a world perspective, we also offer a short-term study away experience. Generally one week long, these international excursions immerse you in cultural as well as professional experiences, adding to the depth of your understanding of the industry in international venues. Our students have traveled to Denmark, Berlin, Germany, Nicaragua, and Belfast, Northern Ireland.

“A big part of college is networking with people around you. You never know the impression you’ll make. I’ve had some great performance and music tech experiences when I was at Capital JUST because someone knew me. So make sure you get to know the people around you. Having access to professors who actually know my name was huge, and it helped that all of the professors were so approachable.”
